Beau Davis – Philosophy

Beau teaches Philosophy which includes comparative religion, logic, critical thinking, and philosophy at CHIA. He also fills in as a substitute teacher from time to time. Beau is the Priest-in-charge at Our Redeemer Anglican-Catholic church. Beau is from Louisiana and is well versed in Cajun Cooking. He is also a brand new Dad. He has taught at CHIA for 3 years.

Elijah Bocz – Computer Science

B.S. Computer Science Candidate – Kennesaw State University

Elijah teaches Middle School and High School courses focused on Computer Science including Introductory and Advanced Web Design, Computer Coding, etc.   He is a student at Kennesaw State University and teaches computer science at several High Schools in Cobb County.

Elyse Stempinski – Math and Science

Bachelor of Science, Geology, University of Georgia

Elyse teaches Physical Science and Physics at CHIA. She is a recent graduate of the University of Georgia. Her senior thesis involved quantifying phosphorous and nitrate concentration in soils from a site in Turkey. This is her first year as a teacher at CHIA.

Inga Gurevich – Russian and Math

Master of Applied Math, Moscow Oil, and Gas Institute

Inga teaches Russian I and II and various Mathematics courses including Algebra I and more advanced Mathematics courses including Algebra II and Trigonometry at CHIA. Inga is originally from Russia and is a recognized Chess Master. She would love to help form a CHIA Chess Club with interested students. She has taught at CHIA over 4 years.

Ira Danzig – Language Arts, Math and Science

Master of Business with a concentration in Economics, Georgia State University

Ira teaches various Language Arts, Mathematics and Science courses at CHIA. He also tutors students and helps prepare them for the SAT and ACT. With over 25 years of experience, Mr. D (as he is fondly called by his students) has excelled as a teacher and tutor, helping students prepare for college, improve their test scores, excel in the classroom, and develop the tools necessary to become a lifelong learner.

Lampra Jones – ASL and Science

Doctor of Chiropractic, Life University College of Chiropractic

Lampra teaches Biology, Anatomy, Physiology, and American Sign Language (ASL) at CHIA. She minored in ASL and teaches ASL at a prestigious private school in Dunwoody, GA. She is an accomplished runner and competes in local 5K contests around Atlanta. Lampra is a Doctor of Chiropractic at PRN Chiropractor in Acworth, GA.She has taught at CHIA over 4 years.

Mark Bailey, P.G. – Science and Spanish

Master of Science, Geology, University of Georgia Licensed Professional Geologist in Georgia, No. 845

Mr. Bailey teaches Spanish, Geology, Earth Science, and Astronomy at CHIA. Mark is a licensed Professional Geologist in Georgia (no. 845) with over 30 years’ experience in the fields of geology, petroleum exploration, and environmental science. He studied Spanish as an Exchange Student while in High School and has nearly 7 years of academic studies in the Language.

MarKay Appel – Fine Art, Art History, STEM programs, Enrichment Programs

Univ. of Georgia – Undergraduate classes in Art and Mathematics

MarKay Appel has been stitching, gluing, hammering, sculpting, painting, costuming and designing her whole life. She shares her passion for making things with kids of all ages. She has taught drawing, painting, Claymation, STEM classes and sewing. Her son, Sean, was one of CHIA’s first students. What attracted the Appel family to the CHIA program was the idea that kids should be able to work collaboratively with their teachers and parents to find the right individually designed educational path. She hopes to shape the same experience for CHIA’s students.

Sandy Waters – Social Studies

Sandy teaches Social Studies, History, Government and Political Science at CHIA. She teaches both Middle School and High School students. She has over 25 years teaching experience and has an Advanced degree from the University of North Carolina. She has a current Teacher Certificate from North Carolina. She has taught at CHIA over 4 years.
